A rare Georgian Scrimshaw Masonic jewel 1770’s

£450.00

A rare Georgian scrimshaw Masonic jewel dating from around 1770.

One of the panels depicts a masonic square and compasses, another the mason who made it sailing his own yacht (although he was undoubtedly in the Royal Navy), and the third his initials, which are DR.

There are holes in the top and the bottom to attach a ribbon or piece of string by which he would have worn it round his neck.

Very few Masonic scrimshaw jewels such as this have survived and it is extremely rare.
