A really nice Victorian watchcase Royal arch jewel dating from around 1880. It is is a very special jewel as it is the actual jewel photographed in THE MEDALS AND JEWELS OF BRITISH FREEMASONRY by TREVOR I. HARRIS, Catalogue No. TH606.
The jewel has all three bars. It is 11cm in length including the ribbon, and the jewel itself approximately 5.5cm x 3.5cm.
The centre of the jewel is gold, probably 9ct., the rest of the jewel is gilt (it appears to be silver-gilt) and glass, and it still has its original ribbon, around 130 years old, with moire or “watermark” effect.
A superb jewel which would be a pleasure to wear.
