The 1796 Sketchley Masonic Penny.
This extremely scarce Penny is similar in design to the Sketchley Halfpenny tokens but much larger.
Obverse- the words MASONIC PENNY 1796 around a centre similar to the Sketchley tokens.
The reverse is similar to that of Sketchley tokens.
Extremely scarce and much sought after, and not to be confused with the much commoner Masonic Pennies issued by lodges. A genuinely scarce item.
Listed in 1901 in Shackles as No. 8 where a full page is devoted to it, in Marvin as No. 69, and in the 1939 Worcester Catalogue as No. 189.
