A rare jewel belonging to a Past Grand Director of Ceremonies. Between 1813 and 1980
there have only been twelve holders of this office, and the early holders would not have worn
a jewel of this design.
The jewel dates from around the mid-1970’s, and therefore almost certainly would have belonged to The Hon. Edward Latham Baillieu.
It is heavier and in finer quality than modern examples of this jewel.
