These symbolic jewels were made in 1897 and 1902 with hallmark either X or C and anchor.
They were made in gold, and are stamped 9 and .375. Makers mark V & A in triangles.
This example was made in 1897 and is hallmarked X and sideways anchor.
It has been designed for both Scotland and Ireland and has the letter G in the centre.
Similar jewels with an additional open knife in the centre are not Masonic,
but from the Order of Free Gardeners.
24mm diameter. 9ct gold and glass.
